Rob did an interview with Georgia Animal Project this morning – dedicated to high service, low-cost spay and neuter services. Such a worthwhile organization to support. Interview will appear online once it has been published in the magazines.
In the Classroom
Rob and Irene visited a 4th grade classroom at Woodward E.S in Dekalb County this morning to talk about helping shelter animals and Rob’s Rescues. We gave out copies of the book to the kids and answered lots of questions. What a great experience – see November column for more pictures and information. Thank you to Academic Coach Ms. Dee (a director of Pet Buddies Food Pantry) for the invitation and principal Dr. Haddock (pictured) for making it happen.
Pet Food Collection Sites
Pet food collected by Rob’s Rescues goes to various places in our community including Shelter pantries, mobile home parks and directly into rural homes where the pet owners are battling to afford food to feed their animals.
There are permanent Rob’s Rescues Pet Food Collection bins at the following places :
106 Arnold Mill Road, Woodstock, GA 30188
980 Woodstock Pkwy, #200, Woodstock, GA 30189
291 Rope Mill Road, Woodstock
Please support these collection opportunities and let us know if you would like a collection bin too !!!
Pet Food Collection: New Site – Never Alone
Never Alone Inc’s mission is to serve residents of Cherokee County who are in legitimate need of food and clothing assistance. Many people in need, who depend on Never Alone, ask if they have pet food and we found out today that they do not carry pet food at all.
We are hoping to change that by donating contributions of pet food made to Rob’s Rescues to Never Alone. This will help reduce owner surrenders (if a family can’t afford to feed themselves they certainly can’t afford to feed their pets). If Rob’s Rescues and Never Alone can give pet food out there is a greater likelihood of pets staying in the home and off the streets and out of the shelters.
There is now a Rob’s Rescues pet food collection bin at Never Alone. Contributions can be made directly there. Address : 291 Rope Mill Road, Woodstock.
Other RR pet food collection bins are at :
Yumsa – 106 Arnold Mill Road, Woodstock
Rebound Physical Therapy – 980 Woodstock Pkwy, Suite 200, Woodstock
Thank you !!!!!

Seniors, Aging and Pets by Aging In Place, National Council for Aging Care
We were asked to include the following highly relevant information on the Rob’s Rescues website by the National Council for Aging Care.
Getting a Pet Can Improve Aging In Place
Are you wondering how you are going to care for your pet as you age in place? Are you wondering if you should adopt a pet as you age in place? This guide will help you decide on the best choice for you. Studies have shown that owning a pet can be physically and mentally beneficial for people of all ages. In the case of senior citizens, “just 15 minutes bonding with an animal sets off a chemical chain reaction in the brain, lowering levels of the fight-or-flight hormone, cortisol, and increasing production of the feel-good hormone serotonin. The result: heart rate, blood pressure and stress levels immediately drop. Over the long term, pet and human interactions can lower cholesterol levels, fight depression and may even help protect against heart disease and stroke” (Byrne, 2015). …………….
Project HOPE by the Anti-Dogfighting Campaign
The Anti-DogFighting Campaign (A.D.F.C.) has different subcategories besides just educating and helping to end dog fighting. One new project of A.D.F.C. is the Project HOPE Community Outreach program.
Project HOPE is a program designed in helping the low income families of communities with dog/cat food, blankets, dog/cat toys, towels, dog/cat collars, …etc. This program will also reach out to the small animal shelters/rescues that are barely noticed and don’t have major funding as the larger, more well-known rescues and are in need of these very same items for all their intakes. Project HOPE Community Outreach is a way to help those in need and build partnerships with many wonderful shelters/rescues.
The Project HOPE team can be found on the A.D.F.C. Facebook site. Some areas already have donation boxes in place at various business locations around town like Georgia, Mississippi and Tennessee.
If you are interested in making a donation to the A.D.F.C. Project HOPE, please contact us at anti-dogfightingcampaign@hotmail.com. If you are a Georgia resident, you can also contact the Team Director, Shirley Duckworth at S.duckworth.adfc@hotmail.com or the Georgia Assistant Manager, Hope Lewallen at h.lewallen.adfc@gmail.com.
Anti-Dog Fighting Campaign Organization
Good friend of Rob’s Rescues, Hope Lewallen, asked us to please help and put the message out there. Hope’s contact information is below and you can also find her at : Coco’s Kisses and Coco’s Kisses Homemade Dog Treats
The Anti-DogFighting Campaign (A.D.F.C.) is an organization that was founded in hopes to put an end to all facades of dog fighting while educating the public about the signs of dog fighting and how to report it. The A.D.F.C. advocates strive to be a voice for so many animals whose lives are harmed and injured by dog fighting. A.D.F.C. advocates also work and strive for harsher punishment for criminals who commit these crimes. A.D.F.C.’s goal is to end the cruel “sport” of dog fighting worldwide while giving the community a confidential place to report any suspicious behavior. If you suspect dog fighting, please call our tip line listed below, “private message” the Anti-DogFighting Campaign staff on our Community page on Facebook or email us and we will be more than happy to help. All information is “COMPLETELY AND STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL”. Rob
We wanted to share one of the images from our recent test shoot with Rob. With the official shoot days away, I thought it would be a good idea for Rob to get use to collaborating with me on his upcoming project.
Humane Society of NWGA visit
Visited and took supplies to the Humane Society of NWGA and interviewed the dynamic director and a wonderful volunteer there. This place is super worthy of all help and support.
